    June '26 Release Thread

Not much going on this month, which is fairly normal for summer I guess. Here's a short list of some of the games coming out:

The biggest game this month is probably Star Fox. Heck, at first glance it seemed like the only game coming out this month. This is a remake of Star Fox 64, an on-rails space shooter with branching missions and occasional dog fighting. It includes a new multiplayer mode, but as far as I can tell is mostly just a visual upgrade, adding modern aesthetics and cut scenes. This game was a surprise announcement in a Nintendo Direct about a month ago that I forgot to post about.

This month's game with the most potential is probably the upcoming remake of cult classic Gothic 1. I never played the Gothic series, but as far as I can tell the closest analogue is a cross between The Elder Scrolls and Kingdom Come. It's a fantasy action rpg with an open world and npcs that follow their own behaviors (like the Elder Scrolls), but is also punishing, has no level scaling, and changes based on player choices (like Kingdom Come). Anyway I don't know enough about the game to know what is new, but it sounds like a massive overhaul. I think there is the potential for this to become more than just a cult classic, but I haven't seen enough buzz about it yet to say whether this is likely.

The only significant new game this month (as in, not a remake) that I know of is The Adventures of Eliot: The Millennium Tales. This is the next HD-2D game from Square-Enix, but unlike the previous games made in this style it is not turn based. It is instead an action rpg, apparently made with a similar style to action rpgs from the 16 bit era.

The only indie game I recognize coming out this month is Denshattack!. This is a game where you play as a train and perform tricks and stunts as if you were riding a skateboard, with an aesthetic reminiscent of the old Jet Set Radio games.

Finally, I don't normally make special mention of ports, but Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is supposed to come to Xbox and Switch 2 this month. This is just a re-release of a game already available on other platforms, but this month is so dry it could very well be the real "biggest" game release this month.

    Re: June '26 Release Thread

Is anyone looking forward to any of this month's games?

I'm definitely getting Star Fox. I really liked the original back in the day and I recall it being pretty short, so will be easy to find time for. I was thinking of picking up Mina the Hollower from last month, but I just haven't had much time for games lately. For similar reasons I'm wait and see on Gothic and Elliot. I'll see what people say and then get them on sale later.

    PS+

    Grounded Fully Yoked Edition | PS5, PS4
    Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 | PS5, PS4
    Warhammer 40,000: Darktide | PS5
    EA Sports FC 26 | PS5, PS4

    Trailers:

Note: Nintendo never posted a stand-alone trailer for Star Fox as far as I'm aware, and I try not to link to small channels anymore. The content always gets taken down for one reason or another eventually. I'll post the (long) video in the Nintendo Direct thread for anyone interested.
