There's been some. I recall in particular one use of an anti-Mexican slur that would have got anyone else an one week vacation. I always figured he picked it up from the conspiracy sites he visited (which have become much more right-wing in recent years), and so long as he deleted them when asked I assumed he just didn't realize that they were slurs. Saying "I won't follow the rules in this instance, and I don't think they matter anyways because we're all going to die" as he did is what changed my outlook.
A permanent ban seems a little excessive but I don't get involved in moderation for a reason, so don't mind me.
Eh, it typically isn't targeted racism but he is flippant in his references and will say some messed up shit sometimes. Like he will complain about a racist and then say the most racist thing imaginable, because that's what the racist would say! If you haven't noticed it might be because it would get moderated or something.
In this particular case, the response to the moderation request was probably largely responsible for the outcome.
He has always posted anything that he thinks amplifies whatever larger point he thinks he's making, regardless of how offensive it might be. Some of his past postings on this board also suggest that he has a narrow definition of racism, or that he views the concept in general as too abstract to be bothersome.
In other thoughts, this forum should really be named Dmitry's Halls of Mediation lol.
The amount of warnings he prompted is truly comical.

Spreading Russian propaganda is a serious matter, at least if you live in Europe. It's not just something that should be shrugged off, or equated with whatever regular political opinion someone might voice.

He used to post heavily in various other forums on the board, especially in the hotties thread in the rant forum. I think that balance is what sort of keeps everyone here, "safe."
as soon as anyone here stops giving attention to the other forums and hangs onto single threads, they're no longer interacting with anyone, but are soap-boxing, and require that positive reinforcement that they would have otherwise received from another location.

I think he was trying to prove that our attempts to legislate would never stand up to a proper dedicated troll.
Generally speaking, though, when someone has to create rules to ban something you're doing, even when you're doing it for the right reasons, you're probably the one in the wrong and what you're trying to do should probably be accomplished a different way. (see: goat pictures).
I'm sad to see Silverblade take a ban because he wasn't always like this. Not 20 years ago, anyway. He was always somewhere on the conspiracy theory bandwagon, but he also grew up in Scotland under Thatcher and saw the actual fallout from the actual policy decisions and coverups made during her time. Some of that shit's still not public.
I still held out hope that he'd see he'd been taken in by the russian propaganda machine and and course correct, but I'm a naive, hopeful, overly trusting bastard who missed his friend. I can't say whether or not that kind of bigoted behaviour was always there and I just failed to notice it, or whether it started when I wasn't looking but it's not ever okay. period.
I'm so tired of extremism changing people I used to call "friend".
I keep hoping I can reach bigots and help them see people instead of nebulous "others".
I guess at some point hope starts to resemble being a complicit enabler.
