    Tim McCarver, former baseball player and announcer, 81. I always enjoyed listening to McCarver, and always looked forward to the Saturday afternoon games on TV since that was the only game I got to see back then before cable.

    He was knowledgeable but sometimes annoying, and seemed to get more curmudgeonly as he aged. Which is only natural.
