Re: The Graffe's Celebrity Death Pool

Stephen Furst, actor who played Vir Cotto in Babylon 5 and Flounder in Animal House, died today.

Stealing the words of Tim Matheson: "Ah, Flounder! You fucked up. You trusted us!"

The movie animal house actually does demonstrate my college experience pretty well, except my fraternity managed to maintain a gpa over 2.5.

Sigh, really loved his character in B5, nice folk do exist not just bastards etc which overly grimy novels/films ignore, so he was important as a character especially in contrast to the tragedy of Londo
His last laugh on Mr Morden was pure class

Yeah, it takes some skill to act with that level of obsequiousness as a character, and he pulled it off FLAWLESSLY, to the point where he had a couple of scenes where he could, as the character, "exert himself", and he sold the character's thought process truly impressively.

That's the hallmark of a good actor.

After his wife's death, I've officially got Stan Lee on my worry list. Losing a beloved spouse after that many years together is seldom good news for men.

Yeah, my paternal grandfather lasted about 6 days after the love of his life passed.

He just stopped caring about anything and as a result, his body just gave up.

I mean, he was almost 90 and had been a farmer his whole life, so it wasn't unexpected that he was going to go at some point, but he went from having no health problems at all to multiple organ failure within days.

Then there are the opposite stories too... my wife's grandmother was frail and sickly all her life. Around the age of 82, she lost her husband of 60+ years. Everyone figured she'd be gone soon too, just because she was always so frail and had depended on her husband for everything. She lived to be 95, and lived by herself, took care of herself, up to about 2 months before her death.

Country singer Glen Campbell is in late stage dementia so he will soon be added to the list.

All I remember about Space: 1999 is that the shuttles they used seem to crash at even the hint of trouble.

Space 1999 was da BOMB! and yes those shuttles were like Ford Pinto's packed with nitro

    music was awesome

again, fed up losing folk who had wonderful HUMAN faces (as opposed ot fucking perfect plastic) and rich, gorgeous voices like Mr Landau
so few charismatic actors now, sigh

Re: The Graffe's Celebrity Death Pool

Space 1999 also had creepiest damned episode of TV show I ever saw as a kid, WAAAAAY high on the "fragrant underwear" scale

(ok ignore the dumb science of start monologue, lol)

martin landau has a great very animated face, many of the old greats started out on the stage, so charisma, voice and ability to project were crucial, so we had so many wonderful actors from that era, and why Hollywood has to keep using British STAGE actors to get decent fekkin Human Beings with Charisma on screen !
    sigh
outrageous waste of talent that must exist in America today

Well that was sudden, Especially with the fact they have a big tour on too.

I am going to place my bets on drugs, And very likely legal ones being taken as instructed. Too many scripts today have "thoughts of suicide" as a side effect.
