I vote for 2017 to be "the year the asshats die off en masse".
I was thinking 2013 wasn't too bad for deaths because we lost a handful of actual nazi war criminals (including hitler's bodyguard) and the cast-iron bitchlady herself, but then I discovered we also lost James Gandolfini, Lou Reed, Nelson Mandela, Peter O'Toole, and Tom Clancy that year.
It seems like every year we lose more people that I like than people I don't.

An obituary put out by his family notes that Delligatti was a true innovator in the fast-food industry, instrumental in introducing breakfast at McDonald's, making the hotcakes and sausage meals for hungry millworkers on their way home from overnight shifts in the steel mills.
Delligatti co-founded Pittsburgh's Ronald McDonald House and supported many other charities in Western Pennsylvania. He also served in the Army in World War II.

Inventing the Big Mac pretty much makes him one of the 10 or 20 most influential figures in American cuisine over the past 50 years, right? Although the fact that he lived to be 98 suggests that he didn't consume his own invention very often.
This was my EXACT first thought.
And yes on the cuisine thing, but that's probably not going to win him any post-death prizes. Not comme il faut.
