If you switch go to wireless.amazon.com. You'll save a ton of money.

Better to go into store and see about any discounts he may get due to were he works. Discounts on phones, accessories and even the plan itself. If he is porting numbers over I have seen to many issues with people doing things at an online retailer or most 3rd party retailers. Also in a store he may get a good sales rep who will do the phone book transfer for free instead of the $10 but that will only happen if he buys from the sales rep. They can sometimes do pictures too.

Nine you can get a family plan and add in the $30 for the data on any pda phone. If you are looking to have more then one pda phone then yeah there is no family share plan for that and you will need to add $30 per phone with it. I asked about a family share data plan when I worked there and they about laughed in my face but they did say no family share text plans would happen when I asked about that and those eventually did happen.

I actually moved to a family plan just to get the Droid.

Did you want to do that or did the sales rep talk you into it? It's one of the things we were taught to do. When a person was not eligible to upgrade try and get them to add a line for the phone they want and then tell them to do an esn swap on the phones.

I am seriously having a blast with the Droid and I haven't even begun using its full potential just yet. Just screwing around with funny aps and what not at the moment.

Wish there were more 'instructional' guides would be my only complaint, but I'm slowing figuring it all out.

Yes that's what happened, but now I'm paying $20 less a month.

Well, immediately it lets you run a lot of apps with "all" of the features.

Hit the Market up for "Root" and it should show you a lot of the apps that you can download.

One of the apps you can download lets you take screenshots.

You can also install apps that aren't from the market, which lets you beta test apps (Google has a new Maps out).

Once people have had some time with root access, they'll be able to reskin the entire UI. It seems like they've also figured out how to sign updates, which should eventually let users flash other versions of Android, and customized versions.
