True. I actually ended up quitting the game (might finish it at a later date) because I was fed up with the temple. Yes, you get shortcuts later on. No, it's still not exciting to do the same content again and again.

Re: The "What Are You Playing Now?" Thread

I've nearly finished up with Need For Speed : Carbon. Actually, I finished the story mode then started working on the achievements and found that one of them required that I start all over again as I needed to earn a million.

So I restarted, this time doing all the challenges before I started the storyline (couldn't face going straight into it). This unlocked a Nissan 240SX, which I bought, installed only a turbo in, and then despite it being a Level 1 car I've then completed the storyline mode all the way up to the very last boss. It was actually easier to win races than it was the first time I played through when I kept my car constantly upgraded. Thats one thing that really annoys me about NFS games, that they become easier when you race without upgrades. I can't quite beat the last boss that way, it looks doable but I've got a bit bored so I'm playing some other stuff for a bit.

New games are currently Sims 2 and Galactic Civilisations 2. Gal Civ 2 is pretty fun and is sucking huge amounts of my time but I'm getting annoyed that every time I maybe get lucky with a couple of size 18 planets, only to explore into the AI's territory and find size 26 and size 32 planets. Every single time. Its not even a question of beating them to it as invariably these are almost ajacent to their starting system.

I had fun for the first ~40 hours of the game (out of a total of ~65 for me), after that it felt like a grind and I just wanted to get it over with.

LOZ:TP was a huge let down for me, and I say that as someone who worships at the altar of Zelda.

The world was meh and by this point I feel like I'm just going through the motions. I didn't need another similar dungeon where I get my bow, boomerang, etc. Some of the newer stuff was cool though. I liked the spinner dungeon and boss a lot.

    At least there wasn't sailing.

You know, I think the only problem with twilight princess is that it's relatively long. But if you're not trying to slam through it - I found it quite enjoyable. Oh well - to each his own.

I really enjoyed Gannon at the end - excellent boss fight imo.

I don't usually mind long RPGs and action adventures. Twilight Princess's problem is that about halfway through, you're out of surprises. All that remains are repetitions and minor variations, including the boss fights.

I also felt very constricted and sorely missed having a truly open, explorable world.

Funny, I just finally got around to playing it myself just before this thread was created. I enjoyed it a good bit, while I did think something felt off, I wasn't disappointed half as much as everyone else seemed to be.

Star Wars: Empire at War, multiplayer. In fact, if anyone wants to play a game, I am up for it. It will be a good chance to boost your ego because I suck.

Dominions 3 - This game looks so simple, but it's incredibly deep. Fantasy, turn-based strategy. Easily the best I've played in this genre, but you do need to look past the poor graphics to enjoy it.
Age of Conan - Fun for now. I'll probably max level my HoX and then back to WoW or Warhammer Online.

I"m currently playing through GTA4 when I can get on the 360.

I'm also playing poker again online, so I guess that counts.

I'm reinstalling DDO. Anyone still playing? I was on Ghal when I quit, so I'm assuming my characters are still there. If I could get a guild invite, that would be very cool.

I'm playing through Kingdom Hearts again, on the PS3. The graphics still look pretty damn good for being blown up on a high-res flat-panel TV. I'm at the end of the game, working up the optional bosses. Next will be KH2, of course.

I might work through FFX again. The only bit I can't stand about these awesome games with the FMV cut scenes is the inability to skip the cut scenes.

the PS3 upscales them, which helps a lot.

I'm playing Warriors Orochi which is a combination of Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors and it is awesome. Panned by reviewers of course, like all warriors games, but taking control of an ancient chinese badass and slaughtering hundreds of dudes never gets old.

Also playing Rogue Galaxy on my PS2. I had never even heard of it until recently when I got it real cheap used. I love a good action RPG. Also, a JRPG hero that looks, dresses, and sounds like a man and not a little girl? Great, even if he is mostly lifted directly from Luke Skywalker.

Still going strong on Gal Civ II - moved onto the Twilight of the Arnor expansion now. Theres a patch out now which fixes the annoying research bug and a few other problems though some people seem to be having a lot of trouble getting it to update.

Twilight requires quite a different playing style, especially for the colony rush at the beginning, you have to walk quite a fine line to avoid utterly destroying your economy and still grab as many planets as possible.
Played one Immense size map but my computer was really struggling towards the end so I've been sticking to Large more recently. I can finish a game in a few days instead of the few weeks that Immense took me.

Also recently picked up Thief : Deadly Shadows, Hitman : Contracts and Prey. Yet to play Thief but Hitman and Prey have been enjoyable so far.

Picked up last week Conan for the 360 at BB for $9.99. Have to say it's was WELL worth it. Kinda like God of War lite, but, lots of fun.
