Why Can't I Take Out A Same Level Tank?

I don't duel much but when I do it is usually a melee vs me. Some pointers would be real nice, like what spells to use and tactics as well.

eugh....i usually try to avoid dueling tanks. but draught of fire is a HUGE help, just get another lvl and try to take em out. atol's spectral shackles are also harder to resist the BoF which might help if your duelin a tank with crap mr gear. try dueling in the tunnel in ec and use yonder n'such, then get out on the top of the tunnel when he comes out lookin for you just blast him. he wont have time to find you, and you might have time to get 2 ice comets off.

That tunnel tactic sounds like something I need to try, now to find an insta-cast item.

    Thanks

Flux staff is a good one and fairly easy to do, Jboots are another.

You are a wizard losing to a melee... how embarasing. Check out the Sullon zek stats. No warriors so far in top 10.

Anyway.. to fight a melee.... have Yonder mem'd. I'm not at a level to acquire lures yet but I'm pretty sure that's what I'd use.

At my level, I yonder... Invis... and either a Fire based or cold based spell. Most people that I duel with assume, just because I'm a caster, they would beef up on Magic Resists. That is why I use cold and fire based. Or... you can just Yonder -> Nuke ... repeat. I noticed once you hit them twice for FULL... they start panicking. Once they catch up with you tho... expect to be interrupted or stunned alot specially if it's a melee that can bash. Just keep clicking on that yonder until it yonders you.

Imagine if that cold based root does comes out. All our root line of spells check for magic resists. If they don't have any decent cold resists on... root and nuke baby.

    Tanks

You don't really have to use a lure unless they are much higher in level than you are, or you KNOW that they have high resists. Tanks, ESPECIALLY warriors, have high MR(some even have more mr gear that they can put on), but they usually have lower Fr and Cr. The draughts are fast enough to cast before they close in on you, and cost little mana so that you just take them down bit by bit. Don't worry about big damage like Ice Comet, it casts too slow- unless you start casting fires and then hit /d

I try testing MR with my Temp flux staff to see if it's low, since it's insta and free. Usually 20-50 clicks before it gets through. Main points:

    1) Shielding
    2) Skin spell
    3) Yonder/Shadowstep - they aren't Ultra smart NPCs
    4) Dispell(maybe) or Invis(maybe)
    5) Draught
    6) Lure

Go ahead and try snare if you want, sometimes you get lucky. At 51 I beat an even warrior that had medium MR(about 80- still couldn't land) easily and then I fought a 55 warrior- it was a bit of a draw. One more tip, hope they don't have arrows and such- those really get annoying!

    Re: Tanks

The tanks are not in the top 10 because of the mere fact the server is alot younger than most other servers.. a level 50 warrior on Povar or Veeshan will most likely have ALOT better equipment and have much much higher saves than a level 50 warrior on sullen. Thats why after the server develops in a few months, tanks will dominate if things stay as they are now.

Not to mention Sullon is based on how many players you kill (as well as how often you die). The classes good at dueling aren't necessarily the same classes good at racking up kills and making quick escapes (us, druids, necros).

That last comment is very true. Dueling form what i understand is Lets all heal buf and med to full then we will fight. Not a good place for wizzes in my opinion. Now we have what we do on Vallon Zek. Get a group of people. Port over to Gfay. Go whack a few people in crushbone who are medding and healing. Run over to butcherblock ....whack a feew more....Port out to Nk and head to splitpaw ...rack up a few more. etc. etc. etc. But i am a dark elf so thats what i act like. We don't fight toe to toe.. i leave that for my troll brethren. We use our skills and that means ALL of our skills. And yes being able to port is absolutely Havoc causing. We did this the two weekends with our guild and it was hillarious .... they were screaming that we had staged a Massive invasion(my guild that is)... there were six of us. This strategy also works solo. Use your ports and you will becomer a huge pker and bind in a safe spot. I use OT ..... chances are no lighty will find me in there.
