Twitter didn't exist when he was that young. In a sense we all got our first opportunities to learn this lesson at the same time, regardless of age.

The cast issued an open letter supporting Gunn:

“to share our experience having spent many years together on set”

"He was always great with us" testimony has never flown in these kinds of situations and never will.

They don't really have any choice in the matter at this point. Dude said some messed up stuff in public. Stuff that hits Disney right in their piggy bank. This might be where people wake up and start learning not to post shit like that online.

Except, it's not hurting and never really COULD hurt disney in their piggy bank.

That's like saying someone who does films for Disney telling "The Aristocrats" joke at a Comedy Central roast is hurting their piggy bank.

Disney's piggy bank is invincible because it's reinforced on so many fronts.

And now the guy who plays Drax is saying he won't do Guardians 3 without Gunn's script, which presumably requires Gunn.

There's loyalty, and then there's "continued paycheck from Disney/Marvel".

Have to admire him sticking to his gunns.

Once upon a time you might have been right, but in today's social "justice" world even the tiniest thing can and does bring institutions down. Given the recent lackluster performance of Solo, they know their franchises are not unassailable. They aren't going to take even the slightest chance of allowing anything to happen to their Marvel cash cow.

    Solo wasn't a good movie.
Rogue One wasn't all that good either for a lot of people
Out of recent Star Wars movies, 1/4 wasn't a huge hit. The quality of the others (RO/TFA/TLJ), box office notwithstanding, were widely debated upon.

    RO: 532m/ww 1056m
    Solo: 213m/ww 390m
    TFA: 936m/ww 2068m
    TLJ: 620m/ww 1332m

Iron Man 2 wasn't great, but RDJ pulled it up by the bootstraps and made it not-suck. Thor: Dark World wasn't great, but had some redeeming qualities. I've only watched the former a dozen times, and the latter three, but that's only because that part of Thor's story doesn't thrill me.

    IM: 318m/ww 585m
    Thor: 181m/ww 449m

    IM2: 312m/ww 623m
    TDW: 206m/ww 644m

    IM3: 409m/ww 1215m
    T3R: 315m/ww 853m

Two semi-duds out of 19 is a pretty good track record, all things considered.

They may use Gunn's script after all (money is being negotiated), and other studios are ready to pick him up - including Marvel:

Twitter is not a Comedy Central roast. And no prominent Hollywood personality has told the Aristocrats joke in a public setting in years, for good reason.

Disney isn't having it - Gunn is done, but his script will likely be used:

I remember he made a 9/11 joke about Trump during the Roast of Trump.
"When you name your baby Jeeves...you've pretty much set up his career for life. You don't see many Hit Men, for example, named Jeeves. "Pardon me sir, but I must wack you now."

Gunn's script won't be used, because GotG3 has been pulled from the release schedule:

    https://www.laineygossip.com/guardia...eparture/50696

This is messy, and a lot of the speculation in that article (including that "Thor" director Taika Waititi is being offered GotG3) is likely closer to reality than a fan would want. The House of Mouse is a house divided.

I think with the end of the Infinity Gauntlet storyline and the addition of the Fox franchises, now would be a great time to reboot everything. Just spare us the retelling of a dozen origin storylines.

At this point just make it Thor 4: Asgardians of the Galaxy with Taika Waititi directing. We need more adventured with Thor and Tree and Rabbit and the Morons.
