    Led supply

Where should i buy LED stars?

Im going to start building some custom arrays, but i know so little about it, i need to buy a whole mess at a good price, preferably LED stars as opposed to the 2 prong varieties.

Does anyone do electrical for fun?what is your preferres location to purchase from?

When i'm prototyping I'll get my stuff from adafruit.com. To me that's the best time to spend the money to see what you can do. When I want to scale up to something bigger I hit up either ebay or one of the chinese sites for cheap stuff. About the only thing I won't get from a Chinese site is the micro-controller, I'd rather not have to deal with that part failing.

    Arduino projects intrigue me.

I would love to automate my entire system through my phone.

Maybe on addition to my LED project, I'll make an automated system.

I'd go with a Raspberry Pi3 for the central controller for any home automation. You connect to the Pi and the Pi tells the arduinos what to do.

I like sparkfun.com for their tutorials and hook up guides. They have a ton of IC's on their custom breakout boards with great guides and sample code to get you going. And their employees / engineers answer questions in the comments sections on whatever product you're working with.

For simple phone control stuff, they have the blynk board: https://www.sparkfun.com/blynk

Almost always the answer is digikey or mouser in the US.

Are you looking for lighting, or weird light options? If you need lighting I'd use cobs.
