James Gunn DC Universe Plan

Now this actually gives me some hope that something decent will come out of this. I definitely have been taking a "wait and see" approach and while I'm sad to see some of the actors losing their roles, I was willing to run with it if it built a better product. I like a lot of what I read about in this plan and how the pieces are supposed to fit together and it certainly makes more sense. Hopefully, Gunn can keep the big wigs noses from meddling and hold this all together. I have to figure he's told them that if they try to meddle, he's out. Gunn doesn't need to deal with their bullshit to stay employed.
Re: James Gunn DC Universe Plan
The TV shows don't do much for me (though I'll at least give Booster Gold a try), but the Superman description interests me, and the Supergirl one will get my attention purely because it's based on the work of Tom King, whose work I enjoyed in the Sheriff of Babylon, Mister Miracle and Vision comics; I wasn't as taken by his Adam Strange comic, but it wasn't bad -- just felt like rehashed themes from King's other work.
Re: James Gunn DC Universe Plan
I'm just glad there's some sort of plan that attempts to work with each other. At least so far.
Re: James Gunn DC Universe Plan
Each project, individually, could be great. But there's nothing there that screams connected universe like the MCU's Avengers saga, there's some characters that I have no connection to or desire to see (Swamp Thing, The Authority), and a lot of the things that I would like to see aren't there. Very much a "wait and see" from me.

Oh, they definitely have a lot of work to do, that's for sure. Outside of a properly done Green Lantern series I can't say there's anything there that gets me super excited. Maybe the Batman story because I really like that story, but ultimately if the writing is good and the production values are high, I don't think it will matter too much which characters they choose. People will watch it if it is entertaining. Also, I don't think it is an accident they are choosing some less familiar characters since those are easy to write for. It's tougher to write for characters everyone already knows and writing for Superman has always been tough. Although I think the concept they described has potential. It all has potential, they just need to execute it.
Re: James Gunn DC Universe Plan
Peacemaker season 2 is on hold and Waller will continue it with the same actors. Looks like Gunn will direct superman then eventually make Season 2

Re: James Gunn DC Universe Plan
I am looking forward to The Authority movie - huge fan of those comics.

Gunn DCU, meet your Kal-El and Lois Lane:

Corenswet looks the part, I guess. And Brosnahan is dead-on stereotype Lois Lane, with a face that looks like it could lifted from the pages of a classic Action Comics panel. I only watched two episodes of Mrs. Maisel back when it first debuted, but in what little I saw, she seemed like a capable actress who can combine edge and likability -- key to playing Lois, at least if you're respecting the source material.
Re: James Gunn DC Universe Plan
The internet is delighted with Brosnahan. I'm happy that's the way they went because I loved her in Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. They're pretty happy with Corenswet, although some of them are sad that Hoult lost yet another DC role.
Re: James Gunn DC Universe Plan
Cant wait to see who Michael Rooker is playing.
Hoult would be an amazing Lex Luthor. And yeah, Brosnahan is a real gem, but like the last go around with Amy Adams and Henry Cavill, they will still need good writing to make it worth anything. DC movies are in an absolutely horrible state right now.
Re: James Gunn DC Universe Plan
So they've got their Guy Gardner, Hawkgirl and Mr. Terrific:

Fillion has the look, but the character he plays in The Rookie is a clean-cut, almost comically decent fella, the 180 degree opposite of the comic-book Guy Gardner, so perhaps the actor is trying to change things up for himself.

Fillion has played plenty of bad guys before (even though Guy Gardner isn't actually a bad guy), he's certainly capable of performing the role.
Re: James Gunn DC Universe Plan
And today, the film added Anthony Carrigan (NoHo Hank in "Barry", Victor Zsasz in "Gotham") as Metamorpho:

I'm just wondering how all these characters will fit together in a way that doesn't pull focus from Superman, but still has them in a meaningful role.
Re: James Gunn DC Universe Plan
I don't usually watch the animated stuff, but I may catch these newly announced ones:

Re: James Gunn DC Universe Plan
I can't say that I'm excited by either of those. I feel like the film and the TV series covered Watchmen well enough, and I've always found Crisis to be a mess. (The TV version of Crisis was acceptable because it got rid of a lot of the crap in the comic original.) I'd rather see Green Arrow: The Longbow Hunters and The Golden Age.
Re: James Gunn DC Universe Plan
I haven't been following this stuff too closely but I did notice they had a trailer for the new Superman.

By this point comic movies are getting a little too overindulgent for my tastes, but I liked the first half of this trailer quite a bit. Not sold on the rest, but it's at least got my attention now.
Re: James Gunn DC Universe Plan
They've had multiple trailers for this film. I love the ones that feature Krypto.
