You might have a lvl 5 character with the nicest of weapons found in game, but the way the system in place now works, is he couldn't equip it untill he gained about 50 levels. It doesn't really do him much good sitting in the bank, and by the time he hits lvl 50 or so and can equip it, it might not be the greatest thing anymore.
Some pirate shots!

Edit: The NPC actually cocks the gun before firing. Pretty neat animation.
The pirates are great, now I want to see ninjas.
Oooooh! Those screenshots are so great! What am I to do while I wait for this? Gnomes, pirates, engineering, Trolls, flying, arquebuses and gift wrapping all in one game - can it get any better?
Oh, and pointy hats.
Oh man, the pirate chicks are so hot. :D
Er, I mean, very nice art and models there. Yes, very nice. c.c
I've been meaning to ask about ranged weapons. Are guns always more powerful than bow & arrows? Makes sense, but from a fantasy roleplaying aspect, kinda takes all the fun out of the elvish archer type character. I can see a human or a dwarf using a gun, but to me, an elf should use a bow, and shouldn't be penalized for it. The bows should be just as powerful as guns, but just different for variety's sake. ?
No, guns/bows/crossbows/thrown weapons seem to be about the same. Having said that, engineers can make VERY nice guns, and so far, all other ranged weapons are dropped, quested or vendor-sold only.
Oh, and for pirate lovers: Farm the murlocs along Longshore in Westfall to loot a treasure map that leads to pirate treasure. :D
Am i the only one to find the polices and way the text of the names appear pretty ugly , and to hope that those changes ?? Ok i know that the whole is customisable but still i hope for lter changes :p
PS : here is the link to an insanely huge and yet pretty good review of the actual WoW beta (i was even more amzaed that it came from the dumpstore named the oficial forum :p)

The concept of DKP isnt EQ-Specific, I'm sure it would not be that hard to adapt current EQ DKP-type programs to fit in with WoW. hQuote:

In addition, NeoLucifer, you already posted a link to that in this very thread. Do you work for the Department of Redundancy Department? x.x
The pirate Tauren and Trolls are hilarious. What do the circles around their feet mean? I've seen these in every screeenshot so far. I'm guessing that they tell you how appropriate the NPC is for your level or whether the NPC is hostile or friendly. If it only takes about three to four hours to hit level ten without messing around, is this indicative of the rest of the leveling chart? Does it start to slow down after that? If not, it seems like everyone would be at the end game within a week or two, regardless of how often they play.
well i love long posts ahahaha , but i didnt see someone else posted it
YOu can delete that post, you know? Might help others who don't want to scroll through the whole thing.

I have a feeling the leveling is accelerated for Beta - how much? meh - but voiceing concern over being able to get to 10th level in a matter of hours is pre-mature. Perhaps when the next wave of testers, or even the open beta that's been talked about occurs - and newbs are leveling to 10 in a few hours... that'd be a better time to worry about such things.
Me, I like the fact that it doesn't take too terribly long to level right now - I'd be really upset if all the beta testers were restricted to the teens due to time constraints. If the middle and upper levels aren't tested now, then we'll all be beta testing the final release - and that won't be much fun at all, will it? ;)
Demetrius
well i'm still finding normal to have accelerated leveling in beta testing , still it might be obvious that leveling might not be as long and tedious than in , lets say Eq . But from what have been told so far the main focus wont be leveling , and power builds , its all about fun , so i'll just wait and see if there'll be fun contents in the end game
I don't think your argument makes any sense Demetrius. If Blizzard were to speed up the leveling process for Beta, that would give them false reports on it. If they simply reduced the XP needed to level, or increased all rewards by a certain percent, they might find that leveling went too slow or fast in the actual game. My point is, you don't purposely change things in Beta to expedite the process, because it might become a problem later on.
sounds like there isn't any reason AT ALL to upgrade within your levelQuote:

DKP stands for dragon kill points, back when pretty all the highest level raid mobs were dragons
its based on a system that depending on how many dragons one killed/helped kill, one recieved an X number of points... these points were then used in a system to give the person with the most points precedence in recieving loot (lets say i helped out in 20 dragon kills and bob helped out in 15, if the "supercloak of uberness" dropped, i would either get it automatically or gain precedence in the random roll to shave my odds down... i think that you lose points if you use them too...)
Hi,
Just registered to thank everyone of you guys who has been posting. Took me a couple of days to go through the whole thread, 37 pages is a LOT :)
I've had minimal experience with MMOs, mostly because I didn't feel like paying a recurring fees. However, I got interested in WoW way back in 2002 I think, when I saw that trailer. I started playing EQ for the sole reason to familiarize myself with the MMO genre. The thing that really put me off it was the boring and repititive "rat-killing" that one had to go through at the initial levels. I have been a hardcore RPG fanatic for quite a few years, and IMO, the questing system that WoW has put in place will make the game infinately more enjoyable to people like me. I know atleast 5-6 of my friends (other than those who play EQ) would be playing WoW because it has more of a storyline and follows the quest system of the normal D&D RPGs.
I intend playing a Night Elf Rogue as my first character. Since I'm not that imaginative or creative, I'm pretty sure I'm going to name my character from some Tolkien book or something
For people like Mountain Man, I have the following link:
www.warbucket.com/wowtv
They have four beta screen-shot feeds running. Check it out.
Also, for WoW related stuff, check their main site www.warbucket.com, some really cool stuff there.
I've already seen that site Leprechaun, but thanks anyway.
And I hope that when you said people like me, you meant entirely sane people with full lives, who just happen to have an unhealthy obsession with WoW. :)
By the way, nice choice on the NE Rogue, if I may say so myself :D

well i love long posts ahahaha
I am trying to figure out how large the world in the game is now, because it sounds pretty damn huge according to Blizzard and to this forum and a bunch of other places.
So I have two questions:
1) If you can cross the sea between Azeroth and Kalimdor (or Lordaeron & Kalimdor, or Khaz Modan and Kalimdor), about how long does it take?
2) How long would it take to go on foot from the far Northern part of Kalimdor to the far south of Kalimdor?
If none of you haven't actually tried to run on foot before your best guess will suffice.
I'm serious too, so please, no sarcasm, just an estimate from anyone who has played so far.
At least several hours. It took me an hour to swim from Booty Bay to Thadol Span (bridge between Wetlands and Arathi Highlands, south of Undead lands). While I've never actually run from north all the way south, it's a serious journey and can take at least two hours, if not more, to accomplish. A daunting task if you hope to live through it without going through dangerous areas.
I can't really give an estimate on the two continents because the boats aren't working (they insta-port us to the other side of the world) yet.
There's too much open sea in between the continents for it to just be empty, I think that Blizzard needs to do something with the open sea.
I know they have underwater quests offshore, but I'm talking about something having to do with the deep deep sea, just seems like a waste of space to have all that ocean but to just be able to instantly sail to the other side.
But that's just me thinking out loud (or in writing I should say). :)
I've been wondering something for awhile, are there any cinematics in the game so far, or does anybody know if Blizzard plans to put cinematics into the game?
I just ask because anybody who I know has played D2 or wc3 thought the cinematics were one of the coolest things about the games.
About open sea - they don't necassarily need to actually make that large body of water - it depends on how the boats will work. It's not particularly fun to sit on a boat and do nothing, spending an hour of your playtime sailing - at least not when you're doing it for the seventh time. This said I think boat trips in EQ had its own charm, and you got to meet lots of people you'd otherwise never have time to chat with.
If the boats offer some sort of unique activity, a game in the game (like gambling or sea battles), then long boat trips might work, but if not I believe at least parts of the trip will be done as instant teleport, "time looping" or cutscenes. Or boats will go insanely fast.
But I don't know - what does the beta people say?
The beta people say ships aren't enabled yet, and just work as teleporters right now. But I'm expecting them to make the ships worthwhile. There's certainly enough space on ships, and enough nooks and crannies, for them to have stuff going on aboard, and transoceanic travel in Warcraft has always been very difficult (in War3, most of the ships that sailed to Kalimdor didn't make it), so hopefully the Maelstrom and other elements will factor into sailing voyages.
Agreed... this is a lesson EQ1 teaches very sternly. If you're going to have vehicles be the exclusive method of transport between two zones, the ride had better not be long and boring.Quote:

only problem I had with boats is when I would zone slower then the boat and when I came in zone the boat was not there and I was dumped into the water and had to gate and start all over. =/ also if you were travaling by yourself it was very boring, nothing to do on the boat.
EQ1 boat travel was long and boring, but I think the bugginess was the worst part. My worst memories of boat travel involve the two following "features":
Crashing while zoning and logging back in to no boat -- particularly bad as a melee class, since you then have to swim to somewhere where you can get back on a boat. The worst variation is when you crash on the zone to your destination ... and come back on the wrong side of the god damn zone line.
Shuttles (e.g. BB and Erudin) being out of sync with the main boat, so that you would wait for the boat, ride out to it, not be able to get on, and end up waiting another cycle after that.
The only boat that ever worked even vaguely reliably for me was the raft to Tim Deep.
I would have happily endured endless long rides for immersion purposes if the boats had worked reliably.
I hope that before Blizzard get too swept up in making cool things to do on the boat, they make sure the boat code works. Please. I beg you.
I would not. I didn't mind the boats much at first, when all I did was ride between Qeynos and Erudin with occaisional stops on Wisp island. Nor did I particularly mind the first few trips across OOT or from BB to Firiona Vie. I agree that it helped with the immensity feeling of the world.Quote:

I think the real turning point for me was when I got levitate(for mages, that happens around level 39 or so) and I decided to try to run across Ocean of Tears. When I hit the wall, I realized how stupid it was that I could outrun a fricking boat across the ocean but wasn't allowed to actually do it. That was also around the same time I was frequenting Overthere and riding the Bloated Belly. Waiting up to 15 minutes for that blasted hunk of boards to show up got really frustrating, and then it was another 7 minutes ride through empty ocean to get to overthere.
The other annoying thing about boats was waiting for them. If you didn't have the 2 stages:
1. Sit at PC, on the dock, waiting for boat. (Maybe go swimming or fishing)
2. Ride boat, if you afk make sure you're back in time to disembark.
If you could always depend on a boat being there, it wouldn't be so bad. Or if boat trips weren't so excruciatingly long. Waiting for the Qeynos/Erudin boat is tolerable, since the ride is relatively painless. Same with the Oasis raft to TD. But you should not have to wait so long in Freeport. It actually would have been really cool for the character of the city to actually have, you know, a lively port on the waterfront with a lot of boats and stuff, instead of the lonely abandoned wharf with a token dive and general goods shop.
But again, in the long run there really needs to be something to do on a boat, otherwise it will be a drag on the game.
Well we know that they id one as an intro , altely they released making of video of cinematics , so its very likely that there will be someQuote:

well with the current quick air travel system , only people enjoying boats would prolly get on them , except for a few quest maybe..Quote:

For some reason, I don't think that you'll be able to use air travel for getting between the two continents. Otherwise boats would be pretty pointless. But that's just a guess.Quote:

I think they'll use the boats as the main transport route between horde and alliance lands. It would emphasise the fact that travel between these two is a sizeable undertaking not to be considered lightly.
But ideally they'll also realise that waiting for a boat, having to deal with bugs, or the boat being slow in relation to the distance travelled, should not be excessive.
Also, there may be Player owned and operated boats. If this happens then boats will be fun to get on to gather for a raid and raid a town or something.
Yo Ho Ho and a bottle of rum
:)
To the best of my knowledge in EQ the boats zoned at the speed of the person with slowest connection on board. If you had a lag spike and took X minutes to zone everyone else on board did to. Falling off the boat was teh suck to if you were a gate inhibited class. Gate being a low level self only port to bind point spell for casters only. Getting dropped from the boat due to lag, server glitches and just acts of god IE undupilcatable and unexplainable.
Impromptu swimming skill up sessions as the theme from jaws surfaced from the dark recesses of your mind were always fun.P
There was also not a damn thing to do on the boat whatsoever except run in circles around the mast. /tell gullible person 001 if you do this enuf times you will get a permanent 1 point stamina increase per trip /shh its a secret.
Ok so I am bad at times /deal. The complete lack of a /push feature for obnoxious indviduals made me come up with some innovative ways to make them shut up. Hard to type when you have the arrow keys pressed P.
Sorry but there are times when I really do not give a shit about your unasked for comments on life the universe or everything. Keep running we are almost at the zone for encouragment. Me? I have maxed my stam for the trip this way it only works for me going in the opposite direction for 5 points then it switches back P. Obnoxious people are not always stupid just obnoxious so I had to do a little extra creative bullshitting occasionaly. )
Getting off the boat had its own hazards as well. Everytime I got off the boat and wasn;t really sure if I was in the right place. I heard Chef no not the guy from South Park. Chef " STAY ON THE BOAT NEVER EVER EVER GET OFF THE FING BOAT EVER" /Apocalypse Now .) forgive my bad translation but I have to. LE Chef Rasion De etere or close hung in my favorite kitchen
rough translation THE CHEF IS ALWAYS RIGHT P.
What did I learn from EQ about boats a few things.
1 Never ever be without some form of self gate spell or item.
2 Never ever get on the boat if you can get a port instead.
3 If you see someone visibly having connection problems stay on the dock and keep fishing. Or go get a snack or do laundry or something its going to be
a long zone time.
4 The addition of friendly NPC"s that teleported you from dock to dock was a great feature.
5 When in doubt on a waterborne craft refer to Chef's First Rule of Boating ).
6 Lets hope Blizzard has learned something from the EQ Shipping designers .
About boats; I heard somewhere, forget where, that they plan to have encounters on boats, like sea monsters and pirates. That would be cool.
Also, from previous Warcraft lore, it seems that it would take a couple of months to cross the ocean between continents. I wonder hwo they plan to address the sudden increase in boot speeds.
whats the current status on fishing ??? Do the fish species changes depending on locations ? how many species are there ? What about their sizes ?? Can you use different foods to lure them ?? Does a specie got tates and preferences ?? :p

Just wanted to drop a general 'thanks' to the collected beta folks for the highest quality info you can find.
excellent, excellent stuff.
I carried around a 10 pound fish in my offhand with my orc warlock for a long time, which I'd fished up, just because I had nothing else to use there and wanted to look different. ;)
Haha, i remember the 9-pound fish for offhand. Was a trophy fish!
I carried around that lantern thing from one of the WC quests that trigger cast light heal or something with a 30-second cooldown. Pretty useless, but it looked neat.
I had apprentice fishing at one point, but got the skill point back so i could get expert engineering quicker. Never really took the time to sit and fish.
Yah, I took up Engineering later with my orc. I love the offhand lantern, though, not for the effect, but the +2 spirit and +30 health, woo! :DQuote:

Aye, I thought I'd want the goggles for my orc, but opted to keep his Brightweave cowl instead. I use the goggles on my Tauren Warrior, though, simply to further his "oddball" appearance, hahaha :) The bombs and blasts and even the zoom-in device are all great pluses. ;)Quote:

But I still never tired of traveling by foot. I suppose having speed-increasing spells like SoW, SCoW, and SoC helped. Still, I ALWAYS opted for that than hanging around a place for 10 - 20 minutes begging someone for a teleport.
I think impatience describes a lot of MMORPGers, and not just in terms of travel. They want everything now and those levels/items cannot come quick enough. Even quite a few of the non-=powergamers exhibitied this.
The journey is lost on many.
It's probably real time. I ran from the Wetlands to Southshore, (Wetlands > Arathi Highlands > Hillsbrad Hills > Southshore) stopping once to open up the flight path to Refuge Point and it took me about 30ish minutes real time. Of course i got jumped by some raptors and spiders along the way, so that's like 5 minutes of fighting thrown in for good measure. I also was following (but staying far enough behind so i didn't get my brains sucked out of my skull) an undead courrier and his bodyguards and i was too low level to try the cross country trip.
Well, I was not kidding on the hour long swim. I had stupidly bound in Grom'gol (back when there were binders instead of the current spirit healers) without unlocking the flight path near Searing Gorge first (can't remember the name of the place). So that meant if I had any hope of getting back to undead lands, I had to swim back north from Booty Bay to Thadol Span (broken bridge that connects Wetlands to Arathi Highlands). If I died while swimming, I was sent back to Booty Bay for another long swim and I did die at least three times. It took all day just to try to get to Thadol Span. I remember looking at the clock to see how long I had been swimming along the coast, while avoiding mobs in the water and forty-five minutes had passed just before I reached Menethil Harbor. So it was close to an hour by the time I got to Thadol Span.
Also there is a timed quest that requires you to make a booze delivery from Thadol Span to Southshore in 15 minutes or less. So ... that totals one hour and 15 minutes so far. From Southshore to Undercity, I would estimate a twenty minute run, maybe 30, but let's not exaggerate here. So that would make it one hour and 35 minutes. But Undercity isn't at the top northern most portion of Azeroth. So I have no idea what's further north (west I believe is the plaguelands which is a huge area in and of itself), but I will spectulate that it will take up to 30 minutes because the roads aren't stick-straight. They wind and weave back and forth which can make travel take longer.
The reason why I estimated two hours was because the first hour was accomplished via swimming along the coast. I suspected running would take longer if people stuck to the roads, which again, aren't straight.
And buddy, my last name is Dustyboots. We love to travel. Going to places by foot doesn't bother me one iota. (Unless I'm late for a raid.)
Very great post there Mr. Dustyboots.
Seems no one can find anything wrong with WoW as of now. My hope is that the Developers do not get lazy as or after the game goes retail. I Expect them to continue listening in and being as attentive to the game as they have been.

Please add any questions / information you would want to know about when you start your character. Basically it's information about when you first land in the world.
in addition i would be thrilled if anyone has any information on these spells and if warlocks get them:
Curse of Idiocy
Call of the Void
Death Coil
Fervor
Fire Bolt
Shadow Nova
Sunder Soul
Magic Resistence (not same as Anti-magic)
thank you very much.
Anybody know if Chain Lightning is in the game, or of plans to implement it?
Ok, this is a really really long thread and other than the first page of posts I havn't took the time to read any of it. I read a journal over talent/skill points but it didn't answer my curiousity's. I'm an addict to Everquest, and in Everquest when you first train something, tradeskills, combat abilities, it goes up gradually the more you use it. Is this the same in WoW?
*Edit* And if so, is it based on an attribute like int or wis?
It is the same with your weapon skills (1 hand sword, mace, staff, dagger, etc. as well as you magic stills such as Holy magic, fire magic, nature magic, etc.) Your tradeskills such as tailoring/smithing/herbalist/etc. will go up to the maxumum allowable for your rank. Apprentice rank gives you a maximum of 75 skill in a tradeskill, Journeyman up to 150 skill, Expert up to 225 skill. You spend Skill Points to go up in rank in tradeskills, your skill in tradeskills increases with use.
It's not Everquest where each class starts out in a different part of town. All humans, regardless of class, start out in the same newbie town. Ditto for the other races. I apologize for not knowing the name of each newbie town -- I will have to look them up.Quote:

(When you are of level 5 or so, an NPC will instruct you to go to the next down.) You can only train in spells/abilities ever two levels (evens -- level 2, 4, 6, etc). There is no need to know their names because they will be very obvious by the yellow exclamation marks over their head. This isn't EQ in where you have to run up to every NPC and hail or right click on them. ;)Quote:

Plus when the "memorization" of a spell only consists of a trainer telling you that it'll cost like 10 copper to train in a spell and when you agree to it, it's instantly scribed in your spellbook (or ability book). No need to buy a scroll, sit down and memorize it.
Pets are quested. You find the warlock trainer (always nearby) and do a series of quests to "earn" your pet. Vash can answer this better. I think you can get the imp as early as level 3 or 4. Voidwalkers come at level 10. Succubus come at level 20. Felhounds come at 30.Quote:

You start out with the basic newbie outfit, depending on your class. If you're a mage, you have a robe. If you're a rogue, you have a black cloth outfit. You also come equipped with the basic newbie weapon for your class. You also get two spells already memorized if you're a spell caster.Quote:

No, you don't get spells to purchase until level 2. And they are cheap to acquire (10 coppers or so).Quote:

Do you think there will ever be spells that come from scrolls? I liked being able to go get a spell for a friend who was having trouble finding it, or was offline at the time and needed it or something. Also do you have to travel halfway across the world just to get one spell because its only sold in one location? It always irritated me about EQ that while this guy had most of my lvl whatever spells, there were like 2-3 I had to run between 3 different cities to get.Quote:

I do know there are tradeskill trainers you have to set out and find if you want to learn a specific recipe. I know there's one engineer in the wetlands marsh surrounded by crocs. I think it's designed to keep low levels from running there and learning the skill before they're ready. So while you may have to find secret areas for tradeskills, I don't think it applies to spells. Plus there are recipes that drops from mobs in the game which you can give to your friends.
The paladin can gain the resurrect spell via a quest, the reward is a book which when right clicked, scribes the spell in your book for you.
Yes, there are quests for some spells, like Warlock pet spells, but they're not the same as dropped recipes for tradeskills, sorta like Kunark dropped spells are in EQ. :) Good point, though.
many many thanks pedi durtyboots

I usually re-arrange my toolbars, though, when I make a new guy, heh.
Do spells take time to memorize (or whatever it is you do so you can cast them)? It always irritated me that if I died with some low level guy, it'd take like 5 minutes to mem spells (especially when I was messing around with a bard ugh)
Vash is that a tongue wagging around in your avatar?
No, you don't need to memorize spells in any way, shape, or form. You just pay the trainer the fee and WHOOSH, gold sparks fly out from you indicating that you've just been trained in the spell. Open up your spellbook and it's there. Just drag it from the spellbook to your hotkey bar. All done. If you die, all your spells are still in the same hotkey spots. No re-memorization necessary.
And yes, at level 1, you already have two spells memorized and ready to go on your hotkeys. Level 2 is the earliest you can begin to purchase additional spells. (i.e. you can't buy more spells at level 1.)
I can actually answer this one (the question regarding starting class stats), although I'm not in Beta. Kat on the Battle.net forums said the following:Quote:

I don't know if anyone knows the exact start stats yet, but there are going to be differences. I'd expect they'd be logical, i.e. Tauren gets more strength than Gnome.
I'd also like to thank the testers here for the info. This thread has been linked to by just about every WoW site I know of now (and many forums where WoW is being discussed; for example, I came from the SomethingAwful.com forums origionally). The info here was really great and got me interested in tis game. I've got a few questions that maybe some of you will have insight on:
1. Are certain dungeons Alliance/Horde only? For instance, I've seen a lot of stuff on Deadmines. Will the Horde be able to access this also?
2. From what I understand, you have to seek out quests so that when you kill stuff, you can go back to NPC X and get extra bonus XP. Is there a danger of killing things without having the quest unlocked? For instance, if you beat the Deadmines before getting the pre-req quest order to go there, will this stop you from getting a certain reward?
3. How much stuff can you see in the opposing faction's territory before getting killed? Can you just not go into certain areas of towns, or is there a large area you can't go into?
I haven’t been to Deadmines myself personally (currently in the middle of moving across town so little time to play lately), but I am going to say that it’s a mix. I know Shadowfang Keep is KOS to both horde and alliance, but I don’t know if alliance people get quests to go into Shadowfang. There are non-instanced dungeons that the opposing faction can’t hunt in. For example, there is a non-instanced dungeon in Stonetalon Peak filled with alliance NPCs. The horde has to fight those people, but as an alliance character I can just walk in and around unharmed. I can even loot treasure chests in there with no problem. (The idea of looting a chest that a horde group has been trying to clear to sort of makes me laugh.)Quote:

You only get credit for the kills once you activate the quest. So that means, you’d have to go back to the Deadmines and do it all over again. Same thing for quest drops. You can kill mobs all day long, but you won’t get the special quest drops unless the quest has been activated for you. It is not like you can gather components ahead of time and just have it ready when you go up to the NPC. (Some quests will ask for common drops off mobs like leather or animal meat so these are the exceptions, but they are far and few in between.)Quote:

In my experience, you just avoid certain areas. Just avoid towns that are marked as opposing faction and keep an eye out for roaming patrols and you’ll be OK. I was able to run through Loch Modan (dwarven area) on my undead character. I had a few patrols aggro me, but I was able to shake them off or outrun them. I also looked around the night elf lands on my troll, but I kept my distance whenever I saw a small area of night elf NPCs. The game is designed in a way that we will be expecting to cross paths with people of the opposing faction in passing. The major cities are heavily guarded and I support players of a different faction having a hard time getting in. (I was a little weirded out that I was able to sneak in Orgrimmar on my mage with invisibility. Didn’t feel right.)Quote:

Even though she prefers the broken jaw look to the removed-jaw-tongue-waggling look, I think I might make my next guy like this, without the jaw at all. Besides, he's gonna be grouped up with her tauren after he reaches her level, and she'll be looking down on him, so she'll barely see it! ;)
Thanks. There's something I don't understand though. I thought that some creatures and bosses only spawned once, and after you killed them, that was it. So, if you go into Deadmines and kill the boss and he doesn't drop your item, are you just screwed (because he will no longer respawn)? Or, does he keep respawning until you get the drop (and then dies)? Or did I just hear wrong that certain creatures only spawn once?Quote:

Whoa whoa whoa. So if you loot a chest, does that mean the horde players can't loot it or get the item that you picked up?
If so, then I am strongly opposed to this if there is no reprecussion for the alliance looter.
In the deadmines there will only be one boss per instance. If you don't have the quest for it, you won't receive the dropped item (his head). However everyone in the group will be able to loot that item. It's pretty strange to have a guy drop 5 heads when clearly you only saw one on his shoulders when you were killing him.
Once you go back and activate the quest, then you can go back to the deadmines and start a new instance. The bosses will respawn with every new instance of the dungeon.
How many heads drop? Five always, five if any one member of the group has the quest active or the number of people in the group who have this particular quest active at the moment of the mobs death/engagement/dungeon instancing?Quote:

As there are random creeps that drop quest stuff only when you have the quest active, i'd imagine he always has 5 heads, but you won't be able to see it to loot it unless you have the quest active.
If it's not for a quest why would you need his head anyway.
That's why you don't see it as loot without the quest. It's not like you're gonna chop off every creature's head you come by just in case you need it for a quest later. right?
Or are you that insane? :P
Hassan Chop! :)
Once you loot a chest, it disappears. Just like when you gather a flower, it disappears. I think it'll take about an hour or so for the chest to respawn again and it doesn't respawn in the same spot always.Quote:

The way I see it, horde players can run into horde dungeons and do the same thing to alliance players fighting in there. There really aren't that many chests around for this to be a major problem -- more like an annoyance thing. ("Hey! We were clearing to that and this guy just looted it!") The same thing happens when people clear to a mine or a flower and some joe-blow loots it while they're fighting a mob. It's a social issue.
You can pick flowers? I read there where wearable flowers, but I assumed they would be vender purchased/mob dropped/quested. I don't suppose they actively grow over time, as in seeing the various stages of growth before they can be picked.Quote:

Ahh, I see, my mistake. Well, either way, it's still a bit more dynamic.
So, I can kill VanCleef as many times as I want (if I wanted to help a friend get through the Deadmines or just try to get some more rare drops)?
I think that's cool - in the optional campaign in WC3 - the start of Act 2, you get to use the Blademaster with his wind walk ability to infiltrate a human settlement. I love that invisibilty is so powerful... Though, depending on its application, I could see where it might not feel right.Quote:

How many people do you need to spawn an instanced dungeon?Quote:

Even with just one person, you'll spawn your own instanced dungeon. No minimum number in the party needed, but keep in mind that the dungeons aren't made too wimpy, so you might not last too long. ;) Other people can join ya in that existing instanced dungeon if they join your group before jumping into the instanced, as far as I know.Quote:

Just to update y'all, there will be no push this week. We were working hard to bring you one later this evening (and believe me, some of the good folks on the team were here well into the wee hours) .. but it was not meant to be.
We're hoping to do something next week; I'll keep you all posted as more information comes my way.

It's been officially stated that the Dark Portal is still standing, waiting for players on each server to permanently reopen it.Quote:
