[WoW] I Was a Teenage Alpha Tester

Just curious I assume that since so many other priamry characters from War3 are in WoW that me old Fav The Prophet is in there as well. I havent played War3 for a long time and my idjit brother lost the disk, but from my remembering I think my favorite character was The Prophet. He as just kewl IMO "do this or you all die a horrible death" hehe and the humans ignored him, I think, i cant really remeber. *sigh* I'm gona have to go find that disk.

Though I think that my character in Wow will be a Mage or a Rogue havent decided which yet. still a long time yet yo go heh.

And I dang well hope that there I will be able to participate in the Beta here in Oz, one can hope.

My understanding is that the Alliance ignored them during the Third War, and they were pretty much overrun and stomped. In any case, on a continent that's seen every human nation get beat on pretty severely, Alterac got it worst of all.

talking about draenei , i wanna see garonna again (half draenei-orc) !!

for those wondering who she is here is her story :
During the orcish occupation of Draenor, many Draenei were raped by the orcish soldiers, and Garona was the product of one such coupling. At the end of the war, Garona and those like her were all that remained of the Draenei. Having travelled well in all of Draenor, Garona was well-versed in the culture of both the Draenei and orcs, making her an invaluable asset to the Shadow Council, and she was inducted into the warlock-controlled Stormreaver Clan. She quickly became the Chief Interpreter of the Shadow Council, and Gul'dan's personal spy and assassin. Due to her mixed blood, however, she was eternally an outcast, and had to rely upon her wits to keep her alive in the harsh world. Upon arriving in Azeroth, Garona's experience lent a great deal to her insight with their newest foe - the humans.

She was part of a war party which attacked Medivh, and the Magus killed all of them, accept her. Garona was sent back to Gul'dan with a message for him, and the warlock returned her to Medivh, to act as a spy on the orc's behalf.

She acted as an emissary of the Horde to him, and assisted the mage in understanding the orcs. It was in Karazhan that she met Khadgar, Medivh's apprentice sent to spy on him from Dalaran. Khadgar was, at first, furious at her presence, but the Magus demanded Khadgar's respect. Over time, a begrudging trust was forged between the two. Garona and Khadgar continually rebuked the other's race, and defended their own from assault. They learned from each other, and soon began to suspect that Medivh was keeping secrets from both of them.

Together, they eventually discovered that Medivh was, in fact, the man who had brought the orcs into Azeroth, and uncovered his plans of murder and deceit, and that he was truly Sargeras, the fallen Titan.

They fled to Stormwind, where Garona met Llane and Lothar, who accepted her despite her orcish heritage. They then gathered a small war party and raided Karazhan. After searching about the tower, they found Medivh, who unleashed all the powers of Tirisfal and Sargeras combined against them. When Garona tried to attack him, he sent a numbing psionic blast into her mind. In the ensuing battle, she disappeared as Medivh was killed.

In the months that followed, Garona became a trusted confidante to King Llane. She reported to him the inner workings of the Horde and how he could use it to his advantage. But, she was still ultimately working for the Stormreaver, and was sent on a mission to kill Llane. With a heavy heart, she carved out his. But Gul'dan was in a coma after Medivh's death.

Immediately, Doomhammer used the situation to his advantage, killing Blackhand. His spies found Garona, and tortured her, almost to death, until she finally revealed the secret location of Shadow Council. The Council was destroyed, and the Warlocks slain.

Garona's fate hereafter is uncertain.

ps : am i the only one to find the draenei pretty ugly , especially when you compare them to garonna ?? or does it mean that Garonna took all the beauty from the orcs 0_o ??? :p

So, what is the lore behind the existence of the blood elves (the draenei from what I gather)?

the blood elves arent the draenei at all . Blood elves are a new faction of high elves angered by the destruction of Quel'thalas their homeland , and also palagued by an addiction to magic . The high elves themselves are descendant of the high bornes , a faction of night elves banished because of their addiction to magic wich lured the demons of the Burning legion.

The draenei are local indigens from the world of draenor , the former world of most of the orcs . When illidan , the nagas and the blood elves went to draenor in TFT , they met the draenei wich offered their help to illidan in exchange of some draenor's orcs butts kicking :p

Where did you get the info about garonna, much less seeing her? I can't remember her from either WC2 or 3.

She's the one who assassinated the king of Stormwind in either War1 or War2. She was intended to be in War3 (hence that cinematic still of her), but she was cut from the storyline.

I never did play Warcraft 1. I started with Warcraft 2, then went back and tried to play the first one. I found the interface lacking in ease of use and gave up.

You know what would be cool? If some enterprising mod team remade Warcraft 1 and/or 2 with the Warcraft 3 engine. That would rule.

It probably won't happen, but I can dream. c.c

mmm i started such a thing myself , creating scenarios for war3 with the war2 storyline but in the end not enough time to do it (oh well it could have done in a cheap and easy way but i wanted something interesting)

Some already tried such stuff , unfortunately most only do the cartography or doesnt try to adapt the whole and the objectives to war3's playstyle .

With more free time coming i might rethink about it again...

For those that are not as familiar with the history of Wawrcraft how much does the game go into it? If you had never played a Warcraft game will WoW give you some background on who Arthas and other main players are?

I'm not in Beta, but from what I've heard, a lot of information is given. Don't worry about not knowing who people are.
On a side note, I just picked up the Warcraft RPG today. Looks like good background info.

Also as a sidenote, I'd do any quest, turn in any items, and kill any amount of friends/foes to get the chance to turn into an abomination someday, lol.

i'd do the same to become a lich and/or a death knight.
Especially if there was any way to get the old of the death knight with the dark face hidden under the hood and shiny red eyes ^_^ . I love the war3 dk but it will egt overused a little

The only warcraft title i ever played was a demo of Orcs vs. Humans a long time ago. There is a lot of background lore in the game if you stop and read the quest text, and look at books in the library, or read the plaques on some of the statues in Stormwind.

I’m a bit lore obsessed and was wondering the same thing. I HIGHLY suggest going to Wal-Mart and picking up “The Warcraft III” Battlechest for $40. Not only does the campaign detail Arthas and some of the other characters (You actually play them), but the manual has a decent amount of history in it. It is very good, and I don’t generally like RTS.

I am sure this has been mentioned before, but to those that haven't tried out the bonus campaign in The Frozen Throne expansion to Warcraft 3, really should try it out. "Taming the land", I think it is called.
It is most certainly the closest thing you are going to get apart from the real thing. :)
I presume that they made the bonus campaign to sort of "sow the seeds" for World of Warcraft.

I played WC3 but honestly, I skipped past most of the cutscenes, they weren't very well done.
