I doubt they will allow anything other then letters.
i'm sure they do but still they cant and wont add every tm names of the world :p now it was clear on their names policy chart that you're on own vs ownersQuote:
They've clearly got a list of locked names that they consider to be problematic
i kinda agree that its not that cool to use such names , and i agree even more about religious names , now i'm just concerned about some namess from mythology . There are so many version , in novels , movies , tv (those awful and gross xena and hercule series :s) , cartoons , anime (saint seiya anyone ??) , that using it while creating your very own version of the character , no i would even say create your own character with just the mytho name , doesnt feel wrong in any way .Quote:
I'm certainly not going to complain. It really irks me when people try to recreate their favourite character from popular fiction in an MMORPG
as an Exemple i've always been fan of Norse Myths , and i often picked up names ( and not famous stuff like thor , odin) but mostly rather unknown ones , when i didnt created some , and i can't feel wrong in any way with it :p
PS : i know that my actual forum name looks sure unoriginal :p , but there are various reasons not involving in any way matrix , nor really religion , for me to use it , now i'm only used to that name ouside rpg for as avrious reasons and to let my friend recognize me (and Baah i realise now that i shouldnt even need to explain that :p :))
You know, I'm kind of annoyed that you can't have religious names. My SN is usually Agent-Jesus. . .in games such as Warcraft 3 and Starcraft. In Diablo 2, I had the whole theme going. Paladin was Agent-Jesus, Barbarian was Agent-Buddha, etc. In EQ, my name was Gnomomancer. None are very immersive, but are they really affecting other people's games that much?
I also saw a screenshot with a dwarf named GimliRules.
Oh, and excellent WoW right-up/info. I registered to say that at around page 10, but it wouldn't let me post for a while :( .
well as much as i would like to keep using my actual alias for an undead and /r evil oriented guy , i undertsand that my name could seem shocking (in fact i would proly go for a more rp name but i like the idea of having choices)...
In fact i'm consternated that such offended people could exist :s , if you're so offended by me wearing the lucifer name you can simply ignore in the game of become an evil exterminator ( not to mention how stupid for people with such narrowed view about games , musics , movies , arts to even interest themselves to a game full of demons :p) , but hey it aint my call , and i'll play by the rules , eventually i'll just pick the name of a demonic/evil guy from myths or my imagination even worse than religious icons and the dumbest part being such intolerant people not noticing :p
i guess that in the same way some people cant see what's wrong with l33t and weird names ( god those are so wrong and annoying lol) .
I can understand why Blizzard only allows U.S. residents to play in the closed beta.
But I would really like to know is if there will be a worldwide release?
Since I'm living in the Netherlands (Europe) I'm interested to hear if anyone has heared something about this.
Both beta and the final release will be international in scope.Quote:

well the latest part of beta is supposed to be open beta wich pretty much mean well worldwide if i'm not wrong . As for the final game localisation are planned not that i even cared ... back in my EQ days there was only us servers and not even announce of a european one
i care even the less about localised versions when i can only find french translations of rpgs and many games horrid , especially voices , when besides the blizzard ones are so funny and specials
still i understand the need of them
What I meant was if the game will be in european stores at same time as they appear in US stores.
ah well , no one could know here i guess... and with localisations i doubt so even more , unless you find a place with imported us games (even then better luck with pre order on websites...)
The last three Blizzard games have been simultaneous worldwide releases. So probably so.Quote:

mmm nope with localisations there were some days of difference as ex for war3 and his extension (not sure for the extension thought), at least in some countries
now if those were indeed worlwide release , even so local stores can have unpredictable issues wich would explain this .
Still i'm pretty sure that while i got my game in due time because pre-ordered and us version , most of my friends got the localised one like 2-3 days after..(and games bought from pretty various stores)
ok thanx.
Another question: I haven't seen any screenshots yet where I could see the Night Elf buildings from WC3, you know the big walking trees.
Will they appear in WoW?
Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.
I recall seeing an Ancient Protector in an early game play video, so I'd assume there are some ancients in the game.
The breadcrumb quest that leads night elves from Teldrassil to Darkshore involves carrying a message to an Ancient of Lore.
How do Surname's work? Do you pick them from the get-go, or do you have to accomplish something (i.e. attain specific level, complete a quest, earn an item)?
They haven't announced how they're going to handle surnames yet, but they have said that they will be part of the game. Dunno yet. ;)Quote:
