hmm... so...
can ya leave a corpse?
an is dere a timer on em?
Hey there, great write up!
I must say one thing though, I think this statement about WoW rogues is a little much: "Seriously. For anyone who wished that rogues in MMORPGs could be more like the old first person sneaker game, Thief, this is the class for you."
Rogues are also in for a nerf so don't be jumping too high.
I will say that rogues get some of our due in this game. Pick pocket is from a seperate loot pool for starters.
I'll be posting a thorough rogue review of my own by tomorrow (Tuesday ) evening on The Safehouse.
Hiyas Fricka!
I dunno if you remember me, but I used to hang out all the time at the Safehouse, under the name Shanke, a woodelf rogue of Tunare. I had an avatar of a half-woodelf, half-darkelf face. I remember you had a similar guild name at the time, Shanks. :)

You can't leave a corpse, for rezzing purposes at a later time. Once you die, you have 5 minutes to either get a rez, or to "release your spirit" and become a ghost that has to run back to your corpse and self-rez, or to have the spirit healer rez you for a bit of an xp loss.Quote:

Great post Whiz, and great info from all of you. I knew I wanted to play this game before this, but now I'm dead sure that I will be playing it.
I have a question about the UI. I see that there are ways to customize it outside of WoW, but can you move things around in game like you could with EQ? All the screen shots I've seen look like the same basic setup with a bar on the bottom and HP bar on the top. And are macro buttons easy to make?
How long does ones body stick around after "releasing your spirit"? Just wondering if one can release and decide to get ones body/gear/xp in the morning.Quote:

There is no decrease in stamina/endurance or the like while swimming. If you go underwater, you can lose your breath (there is a meter for that) and drown, but other than a random creep killing you or drowning, you can swim forever.
also i'm glad you cant simply pet such mythics creature as dragons , griffons , unlike some recent games !!! I dunno about you but i dont feel like seeing legendary and nobles critters like those , become a common pet , even for high lvls , or worse a simple monture , like a mere chocobo :p
mmm and about montures btw .. can you fight onto those or are they travel only oriented ??? And if you can fight with them is it ike the following ? :
a- only your char can fight while onto it ... ex a warrior swinging his sword while on a horse
b- your monture can also attack , at least some like the wolves (doubt so but if well done could be good)
Mounts are not available until lvl 40. So until they raise the level limit, no one but Blizzard can say for sure if you can fight while mounted. I have heard that you cannot fight while mounted, that when you engage, your mount dissapears and you fight on the ground. But that is only rumour from someone's brother's neighbor's cousin's hairdresser's nephew who works for Blizzard......
also i know that a definite solution hasnt been determined yet about trading ... some talks about a bazaar wich would allow you to deposit your item in a store wich would sell it for you (with a fee or a price % i suppose) , i heard also some being opposed to it..
I cant see why , this would be perfect for me like that hate trading ( i dont feel like sitting hrs in a main hall shouting to sell item and it doesnt mean that the "chaotic street trading system" cant coexist with it or any other way...
My opinion is that of course , some money and trading lover freaks doesnt like the idea of an "alternative market" , aka less goods and ressources , and also way less chances to "steal" people :p
Anyway ,do you beta people , have any idea of the opinion of the actual WoW population about that matter ?? ( them being in the game , and living it , give them more credits about suggestions i think...)
Right now, after a rez, the body sticks around until a server reset, but it's not supposed to, and they're fixing that. Your equipment is not on your body, though, like in EQ. You die, you have 5 minutes to get a player rez or use a Soulstone to self-rez or to instead Release your spirit, when you can either click the Spiritbinder guy, where you appear as a ghost, to lose some experience and resurrect at that spot, or run back as a ghost to an area near your corpse and resurrect. The only way experience is involved at all is if you choose to simply rez at the Spiritbinder guy in the nearest town where you automatically appear. Otherwise, there's no experience penalty, and currently no time limit to run back as a ghost to get rezzed near your body.Quote:

thx for all your answers ! now i am wondering about items . In war3 you could find items with weakened versions of you heroes skills , like one giving you access to the lowest level of vampiric aura (skill of the dreadlord hero , you regenerate absorbing a % of your melee hit damages )
Are there already , or maybe even planned , item carrying weaker versions of some skills from various classes , and maybe even after , for higher lvls , of some hero skills , or are they going to not implement it and enforce each classes , and heros classes specificities ?
I have yet to see any weapons which grant a skill. There are weapons that have a "proc" associated with them, but nothing like you are describing.
As far as planned goes, only someone from Blizzard can say. My contact through my brother's neighbor's cousin's hairdresser's nephew had no news on this.
bah thx anyway ! we'll just now in due time.. Besides i'm not sure it would feel any good in a mmorpg... it was ok in a RTS but it could easily ruin classes balances (indeed many people wouldnt pick a druid if they could get their skills , even only one , with some other classes)

Sure I rememer you, also because of your name being like our guild name :)
Shanks are in WoW now too, give me a tell in game :)
RE: Under water breating: Yep, there are potions that let you breathe underwater, it's one of the higher level alchemy potions though and requires you to make a subcomponent of it first.
