[WoW] I Was a Teenage Alpha Tester

Priests solo very well. They have really nice tools for soloing and can handle just about any mob. I solo with my priest all the time, i'm afraid she's going to be a bit overwhelmed when she does group. Soloing is not difficult with any class at the moment. You will have your natural learning curve to come up with your solo strategy, but once you get that down, any class can solo mobs of equal level. Some classes have an easier time soloing mobs of higher level than others at the moment, but class balancing is not nearly complete.

I solo quite a bit, but I've not played a Priest much. It's very possible, though. Pedi made a priest in the Tri-Horde push to make certain that the class can indeed solo, and she told me they solo very well. ;)

I've played all the classes other than priest that ever were hit with the "hard to solo" label, and honestly, none of them are terribly hard. My shaman solos very differently than my mage who solos very differently than my paladin, but they all solo, and the mage and shaman will eventually be able to solo as well as my paladin, in another patch or two.

Priests can solo fine. Just remember that you won't really come into power until about level 12 or so whe you finally get the nuking spells and so on. You can solo until 12 just fine, but you really take off after that.

You can use a 1H weapon or a staff. My suggestion is to keep both skills maxed out. I only used a 1H weapon because I wanted a faster attacking speed, but I can see why some people would want a staff (nice stats, etc).

Maybe , you are right but unfortunately it lacks many other things and still fall under the "beautiful but still a clone of existing mmorpgs and thus not really fun" category ..

Non-consensual PvP is the death of MMORPG's. Attempts to impliment game mechanisms that control them (like SWG's TEF system and SB's political system) end up being exploitable and unpopular with both sides. The idea of character progression and hostile environments, the essence of every MMORPG with a level, is absolutely incompatible with the idea of FFA PvP.

The correct way is to have a battlefield segregated from normal play so that it is consensual and can be balanced. An example being when you enter the PvP zone you are given an instance that matches foes of relatively equal levels.

I hope blizzard, having seen how divisive PvP was in DII, will do the right thing. Although of course I fully support having a full PvP server as a sort of retard filter.

PVP was a plague in d2 and turned the game into a huge mortal kombat lol ... not to mention the hype it gave to hacked objects , dups , cow leveling rush ...

As exemples about stuff i dont like about lineage 2 :

when i was talking about drows in mmorpg earlier and most of them , except everquest , using them as skins for an ennemy faction of the white one rather than a real race , lineage fitted perfectly that idea...
Orc , human , elves , drows , sorry but i'm kinda unsatisfied with such a low number of races and their total lack of originality...at least Final fantasy XI give them a new skin and rename them ;) :p

As for the classes , two as a basis and then after evolutions based on the classical warrior , mage , healer , rogue etc archetype , to get in final about 20 (even 30 prolly when the final is out i suppose) depending of course of race restrictions... ok why not.. But when those addition classes become just name i kinda dont agree..

I give an ex, a warrior based character at start , specialise himself into the knight and after he change classe , following something pretty close to a classes tree , and become lets say a Paladin , Dark Knight , or watever... that system got his advantage but it looks like to me that most of the "classes" are just new of names of existing in the game ones (with of course a min of new skills but still...)

Now the graphics , they are sublime but without real designer's touch or esthetism , i would love so much being able to tell a game by his looks and design rather than the age of his 3d engine and how pixel free his texture are :s...( kinda how you can tell that WoW is cartoony , or ragnarok a tribute to 16 bits japanese game)
Besides if some players are already complaining about customisation and look options in WoW , well those are inexistant in L2... as a female drow , you got no choice than walk as one of the hundreds of halle barry chars :D

So all those things , the lack of real original and interesting content (ok you can get a dragon ... and still...) and the EQ , DaoC , Uo or another previous mmorpgs clone's feeling , prevent me from getting interested in another things than screenshots or videos :(

Hello all, just wanted to slip in a quick question I haven't seen answered before.

Do the effects granted by the shaman's totems increase in potency as you progress through the game?

mmm not in beta so cant really tell .. still i think that those will obviously get better in time (at least they should ???) , or maybe they will have some kind of totem system wich would give access to others totems as replacement (kinda like getting a totem of fire , then after a while a higher totem of fire , Supreme totem etc etc)

Great question for you guys:

When you swing your weapon at a monster, does it "feel" like you've connected with them? Like you've hit something solid? Can't really describe it other than that, but EQ never "felt" like your weapons ever really connected with the monsters. It was both a problem of the animation and the sounds, I think.
