I think the Epic one starts this Thursday at 1600 UTC (there is a countdown for a mystery game)
The first mystery game on Epic is Shenmue 3 - however the client hangs each time I try to claim it (may be my PC being a tit)
I think their servers were taking a hit. This is the beginning of their Holiday sale and supposedly they were also giving away Fortnite stuff.
My new PC was delivered yesterday and I am having the same issue with Shenmue. Will keep trying.
Todays free Epic game is Neon Abyss
Belated heads up that I was wrong about GoG. They aren't giving away a free game every day, but instead a varied assortment of different daily offers. The only days marked as "giveaway" days for free games (probably?) are Dec 23, Dec 27, and Jan 3.
Today's freebie from Epic is Pathfinder: Kingmaker (Enhanced Plus Edition)
I'm pretty happy with that one too. Supposedly tomorrow is Prey, which is pretty good if anyone hasn't played it.
Last giveaway from Epic before they return to the weekly schedule is a collection of all three of the modern Tomb Raider games. They are good. You've got a week to claim them, then their next game is Gods Will Fall.
Amazon Prime Gaming has a few pretty good offers this month.
Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order (Origin key)
Total War: Warhammer (requires linked Epic account)
World War Z: Aftermath (requires linked Epic account)
Two Point Hospital
Also of note, Prime Gaming has been spun off from Twitch and has its own launcher now.
Amazon is apparently giving Madden NFL 22 away for free this month as part of their Amazon/Twitch Prime Gaming thing.
Not free, but certainly cheap - this month's Humble Bundle choice thingy includes Mass Effect Legendary Edition - for anyone who hasn't picked it up yet, you can get it (with 9 other games) for around $12/£9
Not free, but close: Necrosoft has put together a "Bundle for Ukraine". For a minimum $10 donation, you get almost 1000 indy games, tabletop RPGs, books, etc. Regular price for all of it would be over $6500. The list and link to donate:
https://itch.io/b/1316/bundle-for-ukraine
Apologies if this was already posted. For the Xbox dudes and dudettes out there, these games continue to be free on Xbox Live:
https://www.purexbox.com/guides/thes...x-and-series-s
(Some are on PS4/PS5, too, and some of these require Xbox Gold, however)
Amazon Prime is giving away keys for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion GOTY Edition (on gog) and Plants vs Zombies: Battle for Neighborville (on Origin) this month.
Epic has been doing repeats lately. I think this week they are giving away Total War: Warhammer (the first one) again.
Next week (Apr 7 - 14) is Rogue Legacy, a very good roguelite where when your character dies, your next run is done with a descendent within the same family. Your character traits are random/new, but the gold you find can be used for permanent upgrades.
Borderlands 3 is the freebie on the Epic store this week, plus you get a 25% off coupon as part of their "Mega Sale"
Beat me to it! It's also worth pointing out that the next three free weekly games from them are supposed to be of similar quality. Epic refers to them as "tentpole titles" in their promotional sale info. I don't think any of them will be as big a get as Borderlands 3 but they should be better than the repeats and obscure titles they have been giving away lately.
This weeks free Epic Games Store game is The Bioshock Collection. It includes remastered versions of Bioshock 1 and 2, and Bioshock Infinite with its DLC. A disclaimer on the page says you need to use the 2K launcher even though you are claiming them on EGS.
Amazon has also announced their lineup of free games through Prime this month. The most notable is Farcry 4.
I should have paid closer attention to this thread so I could have snagged Borderlands 3. I grabbed the Bioshock set since I've never played any of them before and I just recently deleted MtG: Arena off my computer (didn't enjoy any of the constructed formats, this is a bad set for draft decks, a huge chunk of my cards are about to rotate out in the Fall). Looking forwards to seeing what the final "big" free game will be! (Was also pretty amused to see some of the other "free" games in the Epic launcher, like MtG: Arena and EVE Online.)
Wolfenstein: The New Order is this week's free Epic Games Store game.
Sometimes they do repeats, though I can't recall if any of the repeats have been their higher profile freebies. Best time to check is during the Winter Sale, as they give away twelve games in a row every day. Or at least, they have been. Otherwise the lowest I've seen that game for is $12.
Gog is giving away free games as part of their summer sale. I don't care as much about older games so probably won't notice/post all of them but the first is Sanitarium, an old horror adventure game that I remember being a fairly big deal back in the day.
The last free Epic Store Game as part of their summer sale is Manhunter. It's a very by the numbers open world game where you play as a monster shark that swims around eating and wrecking things. It can be fun in short doses even if the gameplay loop itself feels a little shallow.
Their free game schedule is now going back to normal (no more mystery games). Next week's game is Supraland, which I've heard is supposed to be good, but don't actually know what it is myself.
Ark: Survival Evolved is currently free on Steam (plugging the sequel)
Good catch, I almost missed that.
Shantae and the Pirate's Curse is the next free game from Gog. Very good metroidvania style game.
Capcom Arcade Stadium: STREET FIGHTER II - The World Warrior is free on consoles and Steam. I think it's part of a collection of old games sold piecemeal as dlc.
I don't know this is the full list or if they will add more later but Amazon has listed a group of games they will be giving away for Prime members as part of Prime Day. This doesn't go live until later in July.
Mass Effect Legendary Edition
GRID Legends
Need for Speed Heat
Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy
Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast
Star Wars: Republic Commando
They also have a larger list of indie games they will be giving away leading up to Prime Day. There are a lot of them and I only recognize a few, so I'll put it in a spoiler tag.
Spoiler for free games:
Epic Games: Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 and Game of Thrones: The Board Game (digital version) are the featured free games from June 23rd-30th.
The next free Gog game is Flashback, an old sci fi adventure that just announced a sequel.
The free Amazon Prime games I mentioned go live today and only today. Mass Effect Legendary Edition, GRID, Jedi Knight, etc.
Edit: Note that Mass Effect, GRID, and Need for Speed require Origin. This isn't a surprise by itself but instead of giving codes they also require you to take extra steps to link your EA and Amazon accounts. The other games are redeemed and launched from Amazon's own launcher and don't require extra steps.
This month Amazon Prime is giving away Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor on Gog, Football Manager 2022 on Epic Games Store, and Assassin's Creed Origin on Ubisoft Connect.
Epic Games Store is giving away Shadow of the Tomb Raider until September 8th. Not sure what else, their offerings have been uninteresting to me lately and I sometimes forget to check.
This week's Epic Games Store freebies are decent. September 22-29.
ARK: Survival Evolved
Gloomhaven
Gloomhaven is a turn based strategy rpg, apparently based on a board game. I haven't tried it myself but I remember a lot of praise for it during it's early access phase. Seems like a good get. ARK is that survival game with dinosaurs in it.
Amazon Prime's "free" games for October, or at least, the three I find worth bumping this thread for:
Middle-Earth: Shadow of War - on GoG
Total War: Warhammer II - on Epic Game Store
Fallout 76: The Pitt - on Microsoft Store
Note that Shadow of War is the sequel to Shadow of Mordor, the game they gave away last month. Don't sleep on it thinking they are giving the same game away. This game got trashed for it's excessive monetization when it came out but it's been cleaned up and is an overall fun, if bloated, experience.
Epic has Evoland Legendary Edition, and Fallout 3 Game of the Year edition, for the next few days.
Sims 4 is free on Steam.
Looks like Sims 4 is free to play on every platform. Or at least, the base version is. They've still got like $800+ of DLC for you to buy. It not being free to play was probably costing them more money than selling it was.
Epic Game Store
Nov 17 - Nov 24: Dark Deity
Nov 17 - Nov 24: Evil Dead: The Game
Nov 24 - Dec 1: Star Wars: Squadrons
Dark Deity is a Fire Emblem inspired strategy game. Evil Dead is the asynchronous multiplayer game from the Evil Dead franchise. I think it has a campaign but multiplayer is the main design focus. Squadrons is another multiplayer focused game, inspired by the old X-Wing and Tie Fighter games. It has a single player campaign that I thought was okay. As a game I didn't find it that interesting but I enjoyed it for the Star Wars stuff in it.
This week's Epic Games Store games are Saints Row IV: Re-Elected and Wildcat Gun Machine.
Next week's game is listed as a Mystery game. There is a good chance this will kickoff their annual tradition of giving away one free games every day through Christmas.
I typically don't remember to check either except when I have an idle moment and can't find anything interesting to watch or read.
GOG Winter Sale has started and they tend to give away a few games during limited windows during these sales. They tend to be old games or small/obscure games so are easy to miss/skip.
They are starting with Ghost of a Tail. It's some kind of medieval action rpg in which you play as a mouse. I've never tried it myself as I couldn't get it to run when it was on Game Pass, but people seem generally positive on it.
EPIC's free mystery games for crimbo has kicked off with Bloons TD6
Kind of dull pick to kick off their Winter event but I'm not complaining.
I'm enjoying it - but there again I have spent a lot of time playing TD5 on Steam (it's free - and there are browser versions as well) and my mobile
Today's Epic free game is Horizon Chase Turbo, which I am sure is a repeat - it is already in my Epic library and I sure as hell did not pay money for it!
Another massive game from Epic today - Costume Quest 2
A Halloween themed game as a freebie for xmas? Thanks Epic :wtf:
It's apparently another repeat too, although I guess I missed it last time.
Reddit has been pretty good at guessing what the game would be based on the gift wrapper clue each day. They are 3 for 3 now. Or rather, they are good at guessing after you filter past all the people begging for Kingdom Hearts, Red Dead Redemption, etc and then also filter past the people making fun of those people by posting ridiculous theories.
Best theory I've seen for tomorrow's based on the clue is Sable.
Sable is indeed today's free game
Today's (until 1600 UTC) freebie is Them's Fighting Herds
Tuesday's freebie (until 1600 UTC on Wednesday) is Wolfenstein: The New Order (pretty sure this is a repeat)
I think it's been giving away multiple times, in fact. Though I might be thinking of giveaways on other stores as well.
Reddit is 6 for 6 so far, though tomorrow's clue is giving them some trouble. It's clearly a Lego game, but which one? I'm betting on Lego Batman, as they have given that away before and repeats are clearly the theme of this year. :D
Weirdly, I do not have any Lego games in the library from Epic.
Current theory on Reddit is Lego BrickTales

You can find the same gray on the Batman figure on the cover of Lego Batman Trilogy (but I really hope you are right).
Screw that. It's definitely Lego Brick Tales:
the 2x4 brick matches the one on the bottom left in this banner: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Fe4NpH1XgAEm_h0?format=jpg
the gray ribbon matches the background color in this banner: https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.c...g?t=1670865343
Reddit was wrong - today's freebie is Lego Builder's Journey
Yeah I wasn't convinced by the BrickTales theory. I did see a couple people mention Builder's Journey, but mostly just because they wanted it. The clue was just too vague to narrow it down.
The next clue is vague too. People are just guessing random games (they want) with radioactive fallout as a theme. Of the ones I've seen, I think Worms Armageddon is most likely, but I was also wrong about Lego Batman.
Or possibly a repeat of Fallout 3
Today's game is three fallout games - Fallout, Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics
Guessing this one is popular - the store has kinda fallen over. My library now only shows the three games I have installed, and Fallout Tactics gives me an error when I try and claim it
Yeah I usually wait until later regardless of how popular a game it is just to avoid problems like that.
Today's freebie is Encased "A tactical sci-fi RPG set in an alt-1970's".
Tomorrow's game looks like something train based. Or on second look at the teaser, it is a Metro game, don't know enough about the games to know which one has trains in it though.
The third one (Exodus) prominently features a train, but they all take place in Metro tunnels so I could easily see it being Last Light too. I think it'll be Exodus though. It's new enough to be a decent get but old enough to not be an expensive one.
It's Metro Last Light Redux - another repeat.
That's a bummer. Last Light is still good though.
Tomorrow is probably going to be Death's Stranding. That's a pretty good pull. The little floating dog tag looking things is something that will burn into your brain by the time you finish that game.
Oddly enough - the storefront is having issues as everyone tries to get the game. Instead of free, it is showing as 40% off
Yeah I'm not surprised this one broke the store. To make matters worse, Epic were giving the Director's Cut away by accident.
While trying to get Death Stranding I encountered some really odd thing - My Epic Games store launcher switched to spanish after I clicked 'Get game'.
A restart switched it back to English, but it was fairly odd. Anywho, seems like a great game that I would probably never have played if I didn't get it for free, so no complaints here. :-)
If you have Amazon Prime you can get Dishonored 2 free through Twitch/Amazon Gaming. Should be available for about a month?
Worms Revolution Gold is free on GoG. Available for two or three days.
Today's Epic game is Severed Steel, some kind of fast-paced first person shooter. I've seen it compared to Super Hot. Tomorrow's Epic Game is most likely going to be Mortal Shell, a Dark Souls clone.
After that is the final day of the Epic Store giveaway. They usually have a good game on the final day.
I've had that happen to me a few times, although I don't recall if it was with Epic specifically.
Final day for the mystery games - and we have Dishonoured: Definitive Edition and Eximus: Seize the Frontline.
Next week we are back to the weekly games, with Kerbal Space Program and Shadow Tactics - Aiko's Choice.
Dang. Reddit had me convinced the Dishonored game would be Death of the Outsider, which is the only one I haven't played. It's on Game Pass but it would be a lot more convenient to not have a 60 gig download tied to a limited subscription window.
This year has been kind of a bust for me. The only thing I didn't have and want to play is the Lego thing. Mortal Shell would murder my PC. What's doubly weird to me is that both Kerbal and Shadow Tactics are better than most of the things during this giveaway.
The only game I have installed (and am likely to for quite some time) from this year's selection is Bloons TD6 - mainly because I enjoyed TD5 on Steam so much. Simple things etc.
Thanks to a certain online sweepstake last year (which I am still in shock over) none of the games would stretch my PC much (Won the Alienware 25 year anniversary sweepstake - got a shiny R13 and all the peripherals). Possibly the coolest part of it is that they shipped the peripherals in a wooden lootbox crate branded PUBG/Alienware 25. I now have the box under my desk.
Also - ALWAYS enter these sweepstakes! Frequently on the Alienware and Intel Gaming websites. It could be you!
The Intel Gaming website also has frequent sweepstakes for game codes.
Oh not me. Definitely not me! I never win anything. That's pretty cool though, congrats. :D
Amazon Prime is giving away codes for The Evil Within 2 on Gog for the next 28 days. Very good survival horror game.
This week's (Feb 2 - Feb 9) free Epic games are:
Dishonored: Death of the Outsider
City of Gangsters
The former is a stand-alone expansion to Dishonored 2 featuring a new playable character. The latter is a city management sim about creating a crime empire.
The most interesting game Amazon Prime has this month is Morrorwind: Game of the Year Edition redeemable through GOG.
Not free games, but Valve released all the Steam sale dates for the next year:
SHMUP is "Shoot 'em Up".Quote:
Mystery Fest: February 20 - 27
Spring Sale: March 16 - 23
Puzzle Fest: April 24 - May 1
Sports Fest: May 15 - 22
Next Fest: June 19 - 26
Summer Sale: June 29 - July 13
Stealth Fest: July 24 - 31
Visual Novel Fest: August 7 - 14
Strategy Fest: August 28 - September 4
SHMUP Fest: September 25 - October 2
Next Fest: October 9 - 16
Return of Steam Scream Fest (Halloween): October 26 - November 2
Autumn Sale: November 21 - 28
Winter Sale: December 21 - January 4, 2024
Not free, but a charity bundle - Humble Bundle's Turkey/Syria Earthquake relief bundle - contains standard version of Gotham Knights and 70 other games/books. Mainly indie/smaller titles, but some bigger/more well known games in there like Payday 2, System Shock 1&2, Euro Truck Simulator 2, XCOM 2, Pathfinder: Kingmaker and Ghostrunner. Minimum price in the UK for the bundle is £24.92, which all goes to charity.
Dying Light Enhanced Edition is free on Epic from April 6 - April 13.
Zombie game with parkour traversal in it. I haven't played it myself but I got the impression it was a pretty average game buoyed up by the fact that it was a zombie game. It's made by the same people that did Dead Island, and there seem to be disagreement over which is better.
Amazon Prime has Wolfenstein: The New Order as this month's most notable free game.
Epic Game Store is having another sale, and another couple of mystery games.
The first was Death Stranding, which they have given away previously. It's available from now until May 25th.
Meanwhile Amazon Prime has Planescape Torment and Star Wars: Rogue Squadron (the old one).
This week's freebie from Epic is Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition
And this week we get Payday 2 from the Epic store
Looks like the mystery stuff at Epic is over.
This week (what's left of it) is Guacamelee 1 and 2. I know this head's up is a little late, but these are pretty solid 2D action/adventure games. If you have the slightest interest in that type of game be sure to pick them up.
Amazon Prime Gaming's next batch of games are:
Prey (now)
Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition (6/27)
Shovel Knight: Showdown (7/6)
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (7/10)
Epic Games Store
June 29 - July 6, 2023: The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk: The Amulet of Chaos
July 6 - July 13, 2023: Grime
I've never heard of either of these, but they are both reviewing well on Steam.
Epic Games Store has started their Summer Sale, so the titles being offered will probably be a bit higher quality for a couple of weeks.
July 20 - July 27: Murder by Numbers, Elder Scrolls Online
July 27 - August 3: Homeworld Remastered Collection, Severed Steel
Murder by Numbers is a sudoku puzzle game with a murder mystery attached. Elder Scrolls Online is an mmo with an optional subscription model. You can play without it, but it makes it easier to play. This is just them offering the base game (which tends to be pretty cheap). You still need to buy content packs.
Be sure to redeem Homeworld next week if you like RTS and/or space games. It's pretty neat.
Epic Games Store
August 3 - August 10: Bloons TD6, Loop Hero
August 10 - August 17: Europa Universalis IV, Orwell
Bloons and Loop Hero are repeats, so it's a second chance for anyone who missed them last time. I haven't played Bloons (It's a tower defense, I think?) but Loop Hero is neat.
Epic Games Store
August 24 - August 31, 2023: Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak
August 31 - September 7, 2023: Cave Story+
I think these are probably repeats, but again, a good second chance for anyone who missed it last time.
Epic Game Store stuff has been pretty dull lately, but Amazon Prime is giving away Ghostwire Tokyo (with an EGS key no less) starting October 5th.
Epic Game Store
October 19 - October 26: Eternal Threads; The Evil Within
October 26 - November 2: Tandem: a Tale of Shadows; The Evil Within 2
Can't speak for the other two, but the Evil Within games are pretty decent and why I'm bothering to bump this thread with an EGS update. They are survival horror games from one of the original creators of Resident Evil. In typical genre fashion, the first game is a little underbaked and janky but has a much more prominent horror atmosphere, while the second game is a much better made game but isn't as scary as a result. Generally giving more control and options to the player makes a game more fun but less stressful.
The two most notable games that Amazon Prime is giving away this month are Rage 2 and Invincible Presents: Atom Eve, through Epic Games Store.
The Atom Eve game is a visual novel based on Invincible and is new this month. I'm not expecting it to be good but if you are a fan of Invincible and have the relevant accounts it could still be worth checking out.
The original Half Life is free on Steam as part of an anniversary celebration until November 20th.
Was bringing that here to post:
https://www.pcgamer.com/valve-just-m...f-documentary/
GOG is giving away Styx: Shards of Darkness for a limited time I guess as part of their Black Friday sales. They tend to give away a lot of games I've never heard of, but I've played this one.
It's a stealth game where you play as a goblin. It's also one of those games that got mediocre critic reviews but good user reviews. That praise is why I tried it myself, though I didn't like it enough to finish it.
Like all GOG giveaways, its a limited time thing. And depending on which landing page is correct this post will either be relevant for 5 hours or for 60.
Amazon Prime is giving away Epic Game Store keys for Deathloop this month.
Not sure what the free game is on Epic this week, but next week it looks like they are starting the holiday mystery game thing again.
Epic's first free mystery game is Destiny 2: Legacy Collection. That will last until the 20th, at which point they will transition to offering one new mystery game a day. Supposedly there will be 17 this year.
Destiny 2's base game is free, but the legacy collection gives you access to the first three expansions. From what I hear the structure of that game is weird and confusing now, but I do remember the base game being fun.
Ghostwire: Tokyo is the free Epic mystery game today. This has been given away previously, but it's a chance to pick it up if you missed it last time.
It's a sort of first person shooter adventure game that has you fighting Japanese folklore spirits in modern Tokyo using various elemental "magic" abilities. Before it came out, it was described as spooky but not horror.
Today's free Epic mystery game is The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Edition. This is a pretty good game to get for free, but you'll only have 24 hours to redeem it before the next mystery game.
The Outer Worlds is a sci-fi first person rpg from Obsidian, the creators of Fallout New Vegas. It's got a similar vibe, but in spaaaace. I assume this version comes with DLC included.
Today's free Epic mystery game is Saints Row (reboot). This is a fairly new game but was considered mediocre and a commercial failure, leading to the closure of the development studio that made it. Your mileage may vary on whether or not its worth your time.
Thanks for this by the way. I picked up The Outer Worlds --- I've heard some pretty good things from friends.
Today's Epic free mystery game is Ghostrunner. I think it was free on Amazon at one point.
This is a first person action platformer. You play as a cyborg ninja and dash through difficult levels. It has a sequel that came out earlier this year.
No problem, glad to help.
Today's free Epic mystery game is A Plague Tale: Innocence.
This is an action-adventure game about two siblings trying to survive during the black death. They are being pursued by Inquisition soldiers, but the real star of the show is the rats. When they amass in large numbers it almost becomes a horror game.
The last free Epic mystery game is Guardians of the Galaxy. It will be available until the 11th, and then it's back to the usual schedule of games I've never heard of before.
I wasn't sure, but I'm not surprised. They do a lot of repeats these days.
And better to play a game when you feel like it, rather than play it just because someone tells you it's good, though it is good.
As a promotion with the new Fallout TV show, Fallout 76 is available for free to Prime members. Offer expires May 24.
Note that they give you a Windows Store key for the game.
Looks like they are also giving away Chivalry 2 (GoG) this month. I think that's a multiplayer medieval combat game that was fairly popular for awhile within its niche.
