Young Ones prove that someone at the BBC were willing to take a risk on four VERY odd characters. And won bigtime. It's still awesome today :grinyes:
Yeah, the fringe stuff is often great :)
Alas the stuffy pervert supporting elitists wankers who run it from on high stifle anything they can their pathetic claws in, Young Ones was on BBC2 which got less of the bosses attention, hence good ;)
example in past few years of management RUINING something was remake of "The Survivors" series (set after a plague wipes out much of Humanity, original 70s one was awesome and creepy/gnarly as hell) and a scifi tale of Humans having ot settle another star sytem as fallout form war triggered by climate change etc made Earth uninhabitable
they made them so horribly "Middle England Middle Class" it was pathetic and they were failures, ick.
Boring schmaltz, as tense as a wet towel etc
Horrible waste compared to many of the great efforts the Beeb has put out over the years, such as "Old men at the Zoo", The Edge of Darkness etc
watch the original BBC version of "Edge of Darkness", freakin' awesome.
(note, lot of great scifi and other material did come from Middle Class England, I'm referring to an odd, stodgy outlook/social strata etc.)
Aw. The original cougar was the last Golden Girl still around.

She's even in a new TV series.
Rue died some time ago, didn't she? Googlesezyes.
Ah yeah, I guess I had forgotten she died. My apologies, I stand corrected.
Just another reminder that I am always, always right.
Just heard about this a few minutes ago.
I didn't realize he was only 82. I was guessing 94.
He was a fixture of sunday afternoons during my childhood.
I may not have liked most of the music he played, being that it was top 40 hits, but he had a GREAT radio voice.
Supposedly there was a hoax involving Jeremy Clarkson over the weekend. Don't know the details, but something between a gag of his and Piers Morgan.
Will look it up later, unless someone beats me to it.
