OK I was thinking about the intentional walk being the dumbest thing in baseball... why take the bat out of the hands of the most exciting players? But then i thought about how baseball has one division with six teams and one with 4 and the rest have five.... that seems really stupid.
Anyone else got any really dumb things in sports?
Extra point field goal kick in football? It is such a time waster and they never miss anyway.

The only player that has a real problem with this is Bonds, because the Giants STILL haven't put a legit cleanup man behind him, ever. The fact that the Blue Jays, which are owned by a telecomm company that owns 4 sports networks (+ one HD) are going to have six of their next seven games on the Rogers Preview channel. Not a Rogers Digital cable subscriber? Screw you. Part of the 99% of people that completely ignore the Preview channel so won't know the games are on? Screw you too.Quote:

Intentional fouls at the end of close basketball games. Combined with the seemingly endless supply of timeouts it sucks the life out of the games.
Compare the last two minutes of a close playoff hockey game to that of a close playoff basketball game. The first is exciting and full of frenetic action, the second is constantly interrupted and drags on forever.
The days when video replay and the crease violations in the late 90's were part of the rules in the NHL were absolutly horrendous. The NHL had started this video review of all goals which were in contention which isn't bad in itself, but the NHL had also placed a new rule where there can be no opposing player in the goaltender's crease at the time of a goal, nulling it. It was meant to protect the goaltender from interference, but in in the it became a major reason for the decline in NHL viewership. It made for every other goal being reviewed during games, and a ton of legitimate goals would be nullified when a player crossed a section of the crease on the other side of the play, when the player was not a factor at all. The size of the crease was also ridiculous the first year this went into place. The worst possible outcome happened for the NHL, where the Game 7 OT winner by Dallas's Brett Hull against Buffalo was a clear violation of the crease rule, but because of the pandemonium in the building and all the cameras rushing to the ice, the goal could not be reviewed. "NO GOAL" was the Buffalo Sabres motto for the summer.
It was game 6, and No Goal has been Sabres fans' motto since I think. (That could be changing this year.)Quote:
